Derby Manager After West Ham Defeat

Derby County have already been relegated to the Championship and lost once again in the Premiership on Saturday, 2-1 at West Ham United.

This was their 26th loss of the season but manager Paul Jewell insists that he does have several positives to take from this defeat. Jewell said after the match:

"I thought we deserved three points and our second half performance was very heart-warming.

"In the first-half we looked like we felt sorry for ourselves but the second-half was great.

"At 1-1 I made a change and fancied us to win it from there. It didn't quite work out like that but a lot of the stuff we played was terrific.

"In football you normally get another chance and if we could have played on the Sunday morning to get it out of our system we would have done.

"In the second-half I thought we looked full of energy, full of life, and we were passing the ball around but we couldn't find that second goal."

Derby still have 11 points and it's hard to see what good picking up defeats would do to the clubs.
