New faces in the Knicks

Friday, December 12, 2008 -- The New York Knicks defeated the New Jersey Nets by a score of 121-109 on 10th December 2008 (Wednesday) at the Izod Center. The team moved on to a more respectable 10-12 record. Donnie Walsh, the team President, has been trying since previous spring to make the current roster more competitive. With such intent in mind, he transferred Tim Thomas and Al Harrington to the Knicks in the previous month.

These new faces in the Knicks namely Harrington and Thomas share a good camaraderie and are natives of New Jersey. In the game mentioned above, they jointly added 65 points. In this way, they made an on-court assurance to the Knicks fans that the seasons in the near future would not be spent twiddling the thumbs but stockpiling cash for the team. In this game, Harrington contributed 39 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. After the match, he said “I get a special feeling every time I put this jersey on. I really do. I never thought I would feel this way ever, where I’m happy. I think money can’t buy that.” Thomas commented that “We didn’t really thing about what was going on as far as two Jersey guys doing most of the damage. We were just trying to win the game.”

Mike D’Antoni is the head coach of the Knicks and both these new faces like his turbo-charged offense. In the past, Thomas has been under D’Antoni in Phoenix Suns and has prospered when the two were together. However, Harrington is experiencing D’Antoni’s system for the first time and he has developed a liking for it.
