Saturday, April 19, 2008 -- Luis Figo is a undesired liability for Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini and the duo are said to be perpetually entrapped in a mesh of conflict. The veteran Portuguese star was set to leave the Nerazzurri at the end of the season, Inter's president Massimo Moratti's pleas and requests not withstanding.
But it now appears that Roberto Mancini might not have to wait until the end of next season to get rid of the former FC Barcelona and Real Madrid star. Figo picked up a calf injury while playing for Inter against Lazio on Wednesday in the semi-final, first leg of the Copa Italia. Tests have revealed that Figo would be out for a month which implies that the 35-year old is out for the rest of the season.
And possibly out of Inter Milan too. Luis Figo's current contract with Inter expires at the end of the season and although Moratti wants Figo to stay on for one more season, Mancini thinks otherwise.
But then again there is an immense speculation that Roberto Mancini himself would be sacked at the end of the season and should that indeed happen, then Figo would be able to stay on at the San Siro and mesmerize the Inter fans as he has done so since the summer of 2005 when he moved to Inter from Real Madrid.
