Sunday, November 23, 2008 -- According to the British tabloid The News of the World, Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has asked his Middle Eastern boss to spalsh out 60 million pounds to sign England international defender John Terry from Chelsea.
Manchester City were takeover by the Abu Dhabi-based ADUG in the summer and signed the Brazilian international Robinho from reigning Spanish champions and European powerhouse Real Madrid.
Since then the hugely ambitious Eastlands club have been linked with a number of top draw players in Europe, including Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus and David Villa of Valencia. And now it seems that they are interested in the Chelsea superstar John Terry.
The News of the World reports that City manager Mark Hughes has told Shiekh Mansour, who fronts the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG), that Terry is the best defender in the world, thereby prompting his employers to seriously think about signing the player.
It has been reported that Man City are willing to lash out as much as 60 million pounds for the 27-year old and are ready to pay the player 10 million pounds per week, which would make the best paid footballer in the world.
