Freddie Kanoute To Stay On At Sevilla

Freddie Kanoute might have been a flop at the Premiership side Tottenham Hotspurs but in his almost two seasons at Sevilla FC the Malian international has progressed to become one of the most prolific and efficient strikers in La Liga. So much so that there are even rumours that his old club, that is Spurs, are contemplating seducing the player back to White Hart Lane.

But Freddie Kanoute says that he is happy at Sevilla and denies ever being contacted by either Spurs or their manager Juande Ramos. Kanoute says that he does not want to depart from Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and told the Madrid-based sports daily Marca:

"I do not want to leave Sevilla. I am really happy here and I don't think there are many clubs better than Sevilla.

"The newspapers were full of stories that I would be going to Tottenham with Juande Ramos, however neither the coach nor the club have ever spoken to me.

"I am only thinking of doing well here. From now on we have to think about doing our best to try and reach the Champions League.

"We have no choice but to win all the remaining games."

Honestly, Kanoute doesn't have many reasons to go to Spurs in the summer. Sevilla are just 3 points off a UEFA Champions League place in the league and with 6 more rounds of matches remaining this season, he could very well be playing in Europe's top tier club competition again next season.
