Friday, April 18 2008 -- FC Barcelona midfielder Deco is supposedly a fall out boy. After garnering much success and fame since he joined the Catalan giants from FC Porto in the summer of 2004, the Portuguese international has trangressed into a player who is considered a liability rather than an asset by coach Frank Rijkaard.
So much so that Deco has often been reprimanded for his off pitch antics and he has been frequented quoted as hinting at a move to the Premiership in the summer. Last weekend Xavier Sala Martín, who is the president of Barça's economic commission, remarked that certain players had been sidelined from the squad because of their unacceptable extra-curricular activities; he was actually hinting at Deco, who now hits back at Martin.
Deco said on the website of his agent, Jorge Mendes:
"From where do they think up so many lies about me? Anyone who knows me even slightly knows that I am not someone to stay quiet and take all this lying down and especially not to allow lies to be said.
"We all spoke about this and everything was fine and that is why I do not understand why there was more news about it. It is something that I vehemently deny."
Yet he cannot deny that he shall possibly switch clubs in the summer. Chelsea beckon!
