Tiger Returns to Torrey in the Most Unexpected Way

Monday, October 27 2008 -- Tiger returned to Torrey Pines on Monday with no hint of his knee-surgery that caused his season to end prematurely. However, instead of seeing him play, Tiger Woods actually returned to Torrey in order to play as a caddie. Tiger played caddie to winner of the “Tee of with Tiger” online competition, Mr. John Abel.

Tiger always wows everyone when he’s on the course, and this one was no exemption. He played the role of a caddie precisely. He drove the golf cart for Mr. John Abel, handed him his clubs after which he wiped them off once they were used and put back into the bag. He tended pins and squatted to line up putts. However, it was his local advice that Mr. John Abel thought most memorable. After all, it was in Torrey Pines where Tiger Woods made many of his victories.

For Tiger, the experience was like taking a blast from the past. He would look at some of the holes, some of the familiar spots and start reminiscing of past plays there. His most unforgettable moment, however, would have to be during the US Open where he played with a double-stress fracture on his leg and torn ligaments on his knees. Despite the injuries, Tiger Woods managed to win and so he considers his performance at the US Open his best ever.
