Sir Alex To Splash Millions In The Summer

Thursday, April 17 2008 -- Manchester United have virtually wrapped up the Premiership title this season and could very well clinch the UEFA Champions League too. That would make Sir Alex Ferguson's side not only the strongest side in England but the strongest in Europe.

Yet Sir Alex appears not to be too happy with the current crop of players that he possesses. It is reported that the Scot is planning to splash no less than 40 million pounds in the summer to further strenghten his squad.

British tabloid The Sun reports that Fergie is looking forward to importing the Sporting Lisbon duo Miguel Veloso and Joao Moutinho in the summer. United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz is one highly reliable link in the equation as he is expected to convince the Portuguese duo to move from Sporting to Man United. Queiroz was also instrumental in cajoling Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting to United.

Man United are also expected to launch a 10 million pound bid for the Wigan Athletic pair Wilson Palacios and Luis Antonio Valencia although the Wigan duo would only add to the bench strenght.
