Federer earlier announced in his website that he is taking an indefinite leave from playing on the court so that he could obtain the needed rest and he could recover from mononucleosis, a condition he acquired early this year. The condition results to an abnormally large numbers of mononuclear white blood cells in the blood; it takes several weeks for an individual to recover. This condition, coupled with minor injuries and stress, resulted to the decision of the Swiss tennis player to back out from the Stockholm Open weeks ago.

But now that the popular tennis pro will finally return to the playing field, fans and supporters are eagerly awaiting his next strategy, and are hoping for a much improved play, especially that he has expressed his determination to reclaim the top spot from Spanish rival Rafael Nadal.

Federer was ranked as the World's No. 1 for 237 weeks, and was relegated to the No. 2 spot after Nadal beat him in the prestigious Wimbledon Championship in June. Since then the world has eagerly observed the tension between the two tennis stars, the intrigue between them making the game an even fascinating play to watch and witness.
