Monday, October 13 2008 -- Spanish legendary golfer, Seve Ballesteros is still in a hospital bed after he was brought to the Madrid intensive care unit on Monday. He constantly complained of experiencing some sort of a dizzy spells the past few days and eventually collapsed and lost consciousness at the Barajas airport.
The 51-year-old and three-time British Open title holder was known to be battling with a serious medical condition for sometime now. He was already hospitalized months ago because of unusual body pains and irregular heartbeats. But today, his family gave word to the Hospital de la Paz that no further information regarding Seve’s condition should be released to the public yet.
Separated from his wife Carmen Botin and with three children, Seve announced his intention to retire as a professional golfer last year’s Open at Camoustie. Others took notice that his life was spiralling especially when he took overdosed pills after his girlfriend, Fatima Garlaza, died in a car crash. There were speculations that he was suffering from severe depression and his suicidal attempts.
His behavior and recent medical condition heightens the public’s curiosity and concern. People suspected him as having brain tumor as well. However, all these remain as mere speculations and nothing is confirmed. There were results though that are expected today around lunchtime but unfortunately did not materialize. The only statement the medical specialists gave was Seve’s condition is now stabilized.
