Monday, October 13 2008 -- In an NBA preseason game on Sunday 12th October 2008, played between the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors, the Raptors led by 41-39 at the half, but finally the 76ers defeated them by 85-79. Jamario Moon, the Raptors forward, said “This is the team we open up with so we wanted to go out and learn as much as possible.”
Top scorers for 76ers
For the 76ers, Andre Igoudala scored 13 points while Thaddeus Young contributed 17 points. In the third quarter, Young scored 8 points which included a pair of 3-pointers. Maurice Cheeks, the 76ers’s coach, said about Young that “He kind of got us back in the game in the third quarter, making those 3s.” In the fourth quarter, Marreese Speights, the Philadelphia rookie, scored 10 of his 12 points and Louis Williams managed 10 points. Cheeks was of the opinion that the energy of Speights in the fourth quarter contributed in the team’s win. Cheeks said “He played well. He stepped in and made some shots and defended well.” Elton Brand played for 29 minutes and completed 9 rebounds and 10 points. Cheeks while commenting about Brand’s game said “He’s settled himself in once we’ve been out on the court. This is our third game, so it gives him a little more confidence playing with his new team. Practice is always a little different than a game.”Top scorers for Raptors
The top scorer for Raptors was Jason Kapono who collected 14 points. Just below him was Will Solomon who contributed 12 points. Anthony Parker and Andrea Bargnani chipped in with 10 points each.User rating
