All this summer Spanish and European giants Real Madrid have been chasing the Manchester United winger. Real president Ramon Calderon was quite confident of signing the player but eventually a face-to-face discussion between Ronaldo and Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson altered his mind.

Nevertheless the former Sporting Lisbon youngster has still hinted that he would like to move to the Spanish capital before long as he and his mother are huge fans of Real Madrid.

Now the Merengues striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has stirred the hornet's nest by saying that he is positive the Portuguese star shall move to the Bernabeu very soon, maybe next summer.

The Dutch international striker said:

"One day Ronaldo will join us. This could happen next summer, or the one after."

Rudd van Nistelrooy himself played at Manchester United but fell out with Sir Alex and was transferred to Real Madrid at the end of the 2005-2006 season.
