Tuesday, October 7 2008 -- Cash-blessed Premiership club Manchester City are now reportedly on the hunt for the prized signature of the French maestro Thierry Henry and are said to be lining up a huge offer for the FC Barcelona striker.
According to the British tabloid the Daily Mail, Man City manager Mark Hughes is immensely interested in signing the former Juventus and Arsenal centre-forward Thierry Henry in January. Hughes' Man City side were overcome 3-2 by Premiership contenders Liverpool at the weekend and it has now been speculated that the Welshman is looking for reinforcements in his attacking third.
Henry signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2007 and had an indifferent 2007-2008 campaign for the Catalan giants. He was reportedly to be moving out of the Camp Nou cathedral in the summer of 2008 but he decided to stay on at Catalunya after new Barca coach Josep Guardiola persuaded him to stay.
But Henry has failed to secure a regular starting berth so far this season and rumours that he shall certainly move on now have again resurfaced. Man City signed Brazilian international star Robinho from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid for 42 million euros on the last day of the summer transfer season and it is now beyond the means of the club's new owners- the Abu Dhabi's based ADUG- to splash the cash and sign the Frenchman. Whether Henry would like to move to the Eastlands or not is another matter altogether.
