Alves Toying With Options

Wednesday, April 16 2008 -- Daniel Alves is set to leave Sevilla FC in the summer but doubts remain on which club he would prefer to go. And if you ask the player himself, he would rather toy with the options available to him than release a direct reply.

Last week FC Barcelona were reported to have agreed personal terms with Alves but the Brazilian international has gone on quite another route this week. Alves says that although he is still interested in Barcelona, he still has the option of Real Madrid and Chelsea to consider.

Dani Alves says;

"To go to Barça would be incredible, it would be a luxury, but first they would have to reach an agreement with Sevilla.

"I would be delighted to play for them, but Milan, Chelsea or Madrid are also good destinations. Barcelona are one of the few teams that always go out to win and they are a spectacular club with some very unique players. But Madrid would also be good. I would prefer to stay in Spain as going Italy or England would be like starting from zero again for me.

"Sevilla hold the key though and they already know my intention to progress at another club. I am just hopeful that we can reach an agreement which is beneficial to all. I think many of the club's fans will understand that. This club has given me everything and now we must find a deal that is good for everyone.

"I have finished a phase in my career. I want everyone to know that. There are people that want to go against me and try to discredit me, but I have given everything to Sevilla since I first joined the club."

But the problem, as Alves has so rightly and ever so slightly hinted at, is that [Sevilla Fc]] and especially president Jose Mari Del Nedo is the one who has the key to the Dani Alves lock. Although Del Nido is almost certain to loosen the noose that he has tied on Alves, it is unlikely that he would do that easily. You can rest assured that the Daniel Alves soap opera would continue for some more time at least.
