Sunday, October 5, 2008 -- October 3, 2008, HALF MOON BAY, California – South Korean, Na Yeon Choi, managed to stick it through wind changes and decrease in temperature while playing near the Pacific Ocean for the Samsung LPGA World Championship.
Choi managed to shoot a 1-under-par 71 after two rounds at Samsung, and subsequently takes the lead. Choi had a two-stroke lead and four-under 140 total over Lorena Ochoa, Paula Creamer, Song-Hee Kim, and Angela Stanford.
On the other hand, Annika Sorenstam (five-time champion) struggled greatly during the game. She made some bad shots, and to make matters worse, a wasp stung her hand – specifically, the space between the pinkie and ring finger of her right hand - while she was still on the second tee.
The weather was really unfavorable to the players, and worsened during the later part of the round. Almost all of the players were having a hard time with their game, even Choi herself felt her confidence waver. However, as everybody else was having a hard time, her confidence was somewhat intact.
As what Creamer said, “You all saw the scores – they just kind of dropped. It played hard. It was a definite test of golf. You hit and hope. It was kind of like the British Open out there today.”
