Thursday, October 2 2008 -- Premiership giants Chelsea have been dealt with a further injury blow. It has been confirmed that their star striker Invory Coast international Didier Drogba shall miss all footballing action for the next 6 weeks with a knee ligament damage.
Drogba injured himself during Chelsea's UEFA Champions League match against CFR Cluj on Wednesday in the second half and subsequent medical tests carried out on him demonstrate that the 30-year old has damaged ligaments in his right knee.
Drogba missed the first month of the 2008-2009 season with a similar injury to his left knee. Drogab is now expected to be sidelined until mid or late November.
Chelsea now have a host of injury problems. Joe Cole, Ashley Cole, John Terry and Alex also picked up knocks on Wednesday in Romania. Chelsea manager Luiz Filipe Scolari is aware of the situation and is quoted as saying in The Sun:
"I’ve four days to build a team for Sunday. Maybe I will know the situation we have better in the next two days. At the moment though I have no idea.
"Ashley Cole felt his back was sore but he will be ready for Sunday. Alex has a problem with his back and so has Terry.
"We will have to assess them and see how bad they are."
