Wednesday, April 16 2008 -- Last summer Valencia striker David Villa dropped big hints that his future lay outside the Mestalla which rushed the bookies into making speculation. Most said, and still say, that the 26-year old Spanish international would move to Chelsea at the end of the season when the Spanish club could still be relegated but Villa has now hinted that he would rather join Arsenal or Liverpool than the London Blues.
David Villa has never eclipsed his fascination for the English Premier League but speaking ahead of Valencia's Copa del Rey final against Getafe on Wednesday, the former Real Zaragoza striker declared that he loves watching the Gunners. Villa remarked:
"I watch the Premier League a lot and the team I'm most attracted to is definitely Arsenal. Their brilliant one and two-touch football and the whole style of rapid counter-attack which dominates the top level of the Premier League now is the one which suits my game best of all.
"I think I'm made to succeed in England but of course it's one thing saying it and quite another getting there and then doing it. The Valencia president always told me he wouldn't sell me until summer 2008. If an offer comes in I'm hungry to test myself in England."
Arsene Wenger, are you listening?
Well, if you are not, then Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez should since what Villa says next would certain excite the Spaniard:
"It's great playing alongside Fernando. We understand each other totally and we get on brilliantly off the park."
There you have, Villa toying with both Arsenal and Liverpool. But one thing's clear: David Villa is certain to relieve himself of the murky clutched of Valencia.
