Tuesday, April 15 2008 -- Alessandro Del Piero might be an Italian football legend but there has been tremendous speculation on the 30-year something Juventus striker's credentials to play for Italy in the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland in the summer.

He has been in poor form for the Italian national side but has been in scintiallating form for Juventus in the past several months, taking his goals tally to 14 this season. Almost the entire of Italian press is in strong favour of the 33-year old Golden Boy to play in the European Championships in the summer.

Il Giornale now claims that indeed the Italian press' support for the 33-year old has been successful. The paper reports that Italian national team coach Roberto Donadoni rang Alessandro Del Piero to inform him that he shall play travel with the national squad to Austria and Swizerland in the summer. Donadoni though has yet to comment on this matter but one does suspect that this story is indeed true.

Anyway, it would be great to watch one of the best ever Italian footballers play in what should be his last major international competition.
