Ronaldo: To Man City Or Not?

Sunday, September 21 2008 -- Remember Ronaldo, the Brazilian one? Well, at the moment he is without a club as Italian giants AC Milan decided not to renew his contract at the end of last season. But it seems that he is more than willing to jump onto the Manchester City ship.

Ronaldo has expressed his eagerness to join the ‘revolution’ as he is looking forward to extending his playing career in Europe. He is quoted as saying:

"Yes, it is a big possibility. A project which is long term but which could get immediate results because City want to topple the existing order of world football. We are in the process of talking to them. So we will see.”

What about Manchester City? What do they say? Catalan paper El Mundo Deportivo reported that a deal between City and Ronaldo has already been struck and but the club were prompt to deny any such deal.

Even Man City manager Mark Hughes seems to be eager not to let him on board. He said:

“A couple of months ago we were in preliminary talks with his advisers. The people surrounding him were keen to press his case while he was trying to get back to full fitness. I don't think he's fully fit even as we speak now. They were sounding out clubs who were interested in his situation. We had those discussions, but we won't be pursuing it.”
