Sunday, September 21 2008 -- Premiership giants Arsenal announced a profit of 37 million pounds for last season and it appears that arguably the weak link among the Big Four in the Premiership are now emerging stronger than ever before financially.

So much so that the club’s chairman Peter Hill-Wood has dismissed any reports of the club being forced to sell their key players anytime soon. There are reports that a bid of 100 million pounds could come in for the their star midfielder Cesc Fabregas but Hill-Wood told the Telegraph that the club need not sell any player for financial reasons.

Peter Hill-Wood said:

“I don’t think for us to sell our best players for almost any figure makes any commercial sense for us. We don’t have to. If someone gave us 100 million we’d have to pay 40 per cent tax on the damn thing and what the hell are we going to do with the extra £60m? I’d rather have a couple of good players. We will resist any overtures that are made for any of our star players.”

So at long last the much cash-strapped club Arsenal can now finally flex their financial muscles.
