Red Sox Losing Momentum

Saturday, September 20 2008 -- Saturday, September 20, 2008 -- The Boston Red Sox faced the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays, who are having a very good year, sent Roy Halliday, their 18-game winner, against Jon Lester, who had 15 wins

And now, Halliday is a 19 game winner, and has a chance to be a 20-game winner, and Lester is now 15-6.

The second inning was a bad one for Jon Lester (he'd given up a single run in the first) - he gave up 4 runs on a walk, a hit by pitch, then a 2-run scoring double by Marco Scutaro, a run scoring single by Jose Bautista, and a fielder's choice by Alex Rios.

That was enough damage for the Blue Jays, as the Red Sox had some chances to come back but couldn't convert.

All their runs came in the third inning, when Ortiz singled home Dustin Pedroia who had doubled, and then Jason Bay hit a home run which plated both him and Ortiz.

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Minnesota Twins 7-2, and are guaranteed to reach the post-season for the first time in their history.
