Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon continues to struggle, however, as he entered the ninth inning with a 4-1 game, and gave up 2 runs, so that they only won 4-3. (And indeed, without the help of a blown call at second base, in which Lyle Overbay was called out when he was really safe, they might not have even won at all...)

Jon Lester (15-5) was the starting pitcher for the Sox, and went eight good innngs, giving up only one run, in the first inning, before shutting down the Jays completely.

The Red Sox got RBIs from David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis, and Coco Crisp. Jacoby Ellsbury got on base once, and made off with his 48th stolen base of the season.

Roy Halladay took the loss for the Blue Jays, and his current record is 18-11.

In the shocker of the day, the streaking Dustin Pedroia didn't get a hit. In not so shocking news, catcher Jason Varitek, who is only batting .224, didnt' get a hit.
