Monday, September 8 2008 -- 'Monday, September 8, 2008 -- On Sunday, the Seattle Mariners defeated the New York Yankees, 5-2. (Okay, that wasn't much of a mauling, but hey, the lowly Mariners got the win over the sinking Yankees!)

Ryan Feierabend got the start for the Mariners, and kept the Yankees in check over seven innings. He gave up a homerun to Derek Jeter in the first inning, and a homerun to Xavier Nady in the second, and that's it. Alex Rodriguez went 0-3 with a walk.

Meanwhile, the Mariners put together several nice rallies of their own off of Yankees pitcher Mike Mussina.

Adrian Beltre hit his 25th homerun of the season - a 2 run shot that also plated Yuniesky Betancourt, in the third inning, to tie the game.

Jose Lopez came through with a homerun in the 4th inning...and another in the 8th.

In between, hiro Suzukistill trying to get to 200 hits with less than 20 games to go now, had a single and was plated by Raul Ibanez in the fifth inning.

The Mariners are now 58-86, the Yankees, 76-67 and in fourth place in their division.
