The Texas Rangers never really had a chance, as they lost 7-2 to the Sox.

The Sox got things going in the 2nd inning, when short stop Joey Cora tripled in Jason Varitek (his first triple of the season) and was then plated himself by a single by Coco Crisp.

In the 5th, Crisp got another single, and scored on a home run by David Ortiz to put the Sox up 4-0.

In the 6th, Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia each picked up RBI singles, and Jason Bay capped the scoring in the 7th inning, running the Sox's total up to 7.

For the Texas Rangers, Brandon McCarthy went a little over 5 innings, and took the loss.

The Rangers got off the snide in the 8th inning with a home run by Taylor Teagarden.

They made it interesting in the ninth against Jonathan Papelbon, as he walked Marlon Byrd, and allowed a single by Nelson Cruz, and a run-scoring single by Taylor Teagarden.

But Papelbon managed to shut the door after only giving up the one run.
