Monday, April 14 2008 -- After Weeek 32 in La Liga, leaders and reigning champions Real Madrid have gone a massive 9 points ahead of second place FC Barcelona and with just 6 more round of matches left in the Spanish season so far, you can safely put your money on the Madrid giants winning their second successive Spanish title.
But there is one man who still fosters hope of an FC Barcelona title triumph and that man unsurprisingly is a certain Samuel Eto'o. Barcelona's Cameroonian international striker says that although Barca are lagging behind their bitter rivals, they can still spring a major surprise and catch up with Real in the last 6 weeks of the season.
Eto'o bleeds his rays of hope in this fashion:
"We have to continue to battle because there are games left and those ahead of us are not mathematically champions.
"I do not think that our level has dropped. They (Recreativo de Huelva) scored a goal that did not exist and their second came from a mistake by all of us, but we have to keep going. There are a few league games left and also three Champions League matches and we want to be in the final of that."
Barca can indeed win the Champions League this season but they might as well stop harbouring dreams of winning the Spanish championship. It is unlikely that Real Madrid would lose 4 matches in their remaining 6 encounters and it is equally unlikely that Barcelona wouldn't drop points. Barca would better think about consolidating the second place since Villarreal, who are third, are heavily breathing down their neck. The Yellow Submarine are just a solitary point behind Barcelona.
