BoSox Beat Orioles, 14-2

Wednesday, September 3 2008 -- Wednesday, September 3, 2008-- On Tuesday night, the Boston Red Sox had a much needed easy game, beating the hapless Baltimore Orioles 14-2.

The win was sparked, as usual, by the streaking Dustin Pedroia, who was in the clean-up hitter spot for the third time in four games. This time, he was rewarded with a career-high 5 RBI for his trouble.

The Red Sox have managed top fill their lineup with quality bats, despite the absence of many due to injury. Kevin Youkilis, their star first baseman, missed the game due to back spasms, and was replaced by Jeff Bailey who had a hit and 2 bases on balls in 4 at bats.

Jed Lowrie, who alternates at third (replacing the DL-ed Mike Lowell) and shortstop (replacing Julio Lugo) also had a good night at the plate, 1-2 with 2 walks.

Well...with all those walks it might be said that the Orioles pitchers just had a lousy night.

Jon Lester got the win, and is now 13-5. Radhames Liz for the Orioles, just called back up from Triple-A, was not impressive, lasting less than four innings.
