Tuesday, September 2 2008 -- Tuesday, September 2, 2008 -- On Monday night, Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox had a pretty good night, as usual, against the Baltimore Orioles - plating 2 runs and scoring 1 himself in the Red Sox' 7-4 victory over the Orioles.
For the Baltimore Orioles, Garrett Olson, just called back from Triple-A, had it pretty much under control for the first five innings, surrending only 2 consecutive home runs in the second, to Jason Varitek and Jeff Bailey. But the wheels came off in the sixth, and reliever Dennis Sarfate couldn't stop the bleeding. The Sox ended up scoring 4 runs in that inning, and added an insurance run in the 8th.
Paul Byrd, recently traded to the Red Sox, came up with his third win in four chances, and was singing the praises of Dustin Pedroia after the game, as Pedroia, as usual, had a key RBI and sparkling defense behind the pitcher.
