Mickelson played with the host of the tournament, Seth Waugh (also the CEO of Deutsche Bank Americas), the mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, and Bob Kraft (owner of New England Patriots).

Mickelson still deserves the honor as he is No. 2 in the world rankings. Despite the rank, it is easy to forget that Mickelson is a top player since he has been missing in action – much like Tiger Woods.

Compared to most players, Mickelson had a pretty good year. He won at the Colonial and Riviera, and is currently third on the money list – with a difference of around 1 million dollars from Tiger Woods.

With Tiger Woods out for two months, people would have thought Mickelson would rack up the wins. However, it has not exactly worked that way. In the four times that Mickelson has played, he had one serious chance of winning, and he had one-shot lead. But that was before bogeys on three of the four last holes made him tie for fourth place.

Mickelson says he has been playing pretty much the same way he plays most of the year, but he says, “I just haven’t been scoring the way I would like.”
