Another Tiger Woods in the Making?

Monday, September 1 2008 -- After winning the 2008 US Amateurs, Danny Lee became the youngest player ever to become champion since Tiger Woods. Danny Lee is even more spectacular since he is officially six months and 29 days younger than when Tiger Woods became champion and Danny Lee is not even an American, he was born in New Zealand and still represents the country. In fact, New Zealand is confident that Danny Lee will continue representing the country.

The 2008 US Amateurs was not an easy tournament for Danny Lee, unlike the previous golf competitions he has joined and won. At the first few holes, Danny Lee fell two places before his closest rival, Drew Kittleson. However, Danny Lee quickly asserted his place at the top which came as no surprise to Drew Kittleson.

The US Amateurs victory gives Danny Lee exemptions at the US and British Open. Being the US Amateurs 2008 Champion, Danny Lee gains himself a probable invitation to The Masters and even a ten year exemption into the US Amateurs, if he stays an amateur golfer. The greatest honor that Danny Lee received after becoming the 2008 US Amateurs champion, however, is not the many invitations to future major golfing events but the likelihood of being paired with Tiger Woods in next year’s US Open.
