Sunday, April 13 2008 -- Real Betis winger Mark Gonzalez has been one of the better players for the Andalucian club this season and time and again had helped to surface the sinking ship. Indeed he is one of the primary reasons why Betis have not been sucked into the relegatin dogfight in La Liga.
But the news that Betis would miss Gonzalez for a month through injury does come as a huge blow. This is of coutse not the first time that the former Liverpool winger has been hit by the injury crisis but the timing of the thigh injury certainly does dent a blow to Betis's dream of finishing the season on a high.
Club doctor Tomas Calero said: "This rupture is a delicate issue because it is next to the tendon and it is necessary for us to be very cautious."
Mark Gonzalez was beset by frequent injury problems during his time at Liverpool and it appears that the demons are still attaching themselves to him even when he is in sunny Spain.
