Wednesday, August 27 2008 -- Wednesday, August 27, 2008 -- The Minnesota Twins got a much-needed win tonight, when they defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-5.
It was a seesaw affair for the most part. The Twins took an early 1-nothing lead in the 2nd inning. The Mariners tied it in the 3rd.
The Twins scored 2 in the top of the 4th, the Mariners came back with 2 of their own in the bottom.
In the bottom of the 7th the Mariners managed to take a 1-run lead, but in the 8th inning the Twins broke it open with 3 runs, and that was all she wrote. The Mariners made a battle of it, scoring a run each in the bottom of the 7th and 8th innings, but they couldn't get that run needed for a tie, let alone for a win.
Glen Perkins was the winning pitcher for the Twins, and Joe Nathan picked up the save.
For the Mariners, Ryan Feierabend pitched well, but ended up taking the loss.
For Ichiro watchers, he got 2 hits today, and now has 174 hits on the season.
