LPGA Players must be able to speak English

Tuesday, August 26 2008 -- Tuesday, August 26, 2008 -- The LPGA announced today that they were implementing a mandatory rule that every player on the tour must be able to speak English, beginning in 2009.
There are 121 international players from 26 countries on the LPGA Tour, including 45 players from South Korea.
Some South Korean players feel they are being unfairly targeted (the South Koreans are the most successful players on the tour), however, others understand the need.
Angela Park, born in Brazil of South Korean heritage and raised in the United States, said the policy is fair and good for the tour and its international players.
It remains to be seen if the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) will undertake any action against such a rule on behalf of the foreign players.
