Saturday, August 16 2008 -- 'Friday, August 15, 2008 -- Pitcher Paul Byrd, recently acquired by the Boston Red Sox from the Cleveland Indians, was to have made his debut tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway, but the rain came down and washed it all away.
Toronto is probably hoping that the rain also washed away Boston's hot hitting.
The rained-out game will be held as part of a double header on September 13.
Byrd's start is only delayed 24 hours, however - he'll go up against Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay tomorrow.
On Sunday, the Red Sox will send Josh Beckett against the Blue Jays Shaun Marcum.
