Red Sox Bats Are Hot Hot Hot

Friday, August 15 2008 -- Thursday, August 14, 2008 -- The Boston Red Sox jumped out to big leads in each of their 3 games against the Texas Rangers, most recently in today's game when they scored 9 runs in the second inning. While the Rangers were able to make one game close, this one remained a blowout all the way through.

I was somewhat surprised to see Jacoby Ellsbury of the Red Sox not in the lineup yesterday, despite the fact that the Texas Rangers had a right-handed pitcher on the hill. (Typically, Ellsbury has been sitting when the Sox face left handers).

He wasn't in the lineup again tonight, but the Sox revealed that he's been sitting because of an injury incurred a few days ago when he was hit by a baseball. He'd injured his cocyx, which makes it rather painful to sit, let alone run.

However, he's feeling better and will probably be in the lineup tomorrow, when the Red Sox go against Toronto.
