Chelsea Tracking Valencia's David Villa

Friday, April 11 2008 -- Valencia CF lie just 6 points above safety and there is a worsening certainty that most of the major stars will depart the Mestalla in the summer. The biggest departure of them all would be that of David Villa, arguably the best striker in La Liga at the moment.

David Villa dropped the biggest hint that he would seriously reconsider his future at Valencia a few weeks ago when he confessed that he is contemplating on developing his career and a move away from Los Che looks almost inevitable.

British tabloid The Sun claims that Premiership outfits Chelsea are planning on a 30 million euro bid for the Spanish international striker at the end of the current season. Villa has always been a top priority for the money-laden London Blues but so far they had failed to lure the player to Stamford Bridge.

But now maybe, just maybe, Roman Abramovich's billions would secure him one of the best and most complete strikers in world football. David Villa's addition to the Chelsea unit would unlease the same sort of energy and vision that the induction of Fernando Torres into the Liverpool camp has done this season.

But the likes of Real Madrid are lurking somewhere around the corner and Chelsea would face some stiff competition in siging one of the hottest strikers in world football.
