Friday, April 11 2008 -- The Spanish press is famous for its notoriety and one cannot always believe the football transfer speculation that the Spanish sports dailies are rifed with all season long. In what could be a somewhat premature news report, the Spanish sports daily El Mundo Deportivo has reported that AC Milan have reached a deal with FC Barcelona for signing the Brazilian star Ronaldinho.
The Spanish newspaper does not quote anyone but insists that the Italian giants have finally come to a 47 million dollar agreement with Barca and the deal would be ratified as soon as the 28-year old Brazilian international midfielder agrees personal terms.
Ronnie has been a subject of intense speculation since last summer and in the wake of his dip in form, it is widely expected that he would depart from the Camp Nou at the end of the season. At the moment, Ronaldinho is nursing a thigh strain.
Ronaldinho's brother-cum-agent Roberto de Assiss was earlier quoted by a Italian newspaper saying that Ronaldinho wil sign only for Milan if he leaves FC Barcelona and now El Mundo says that Milan have indeed almost signed the player.
The transfer saga on Ronaldinho then drags on. You need not be surprised should tomorrow you get to see a report which quotes one or the other Barcelona or Milan official denying that such a deal has been struck at all!
