Thursday, August 7 2008 -- Wednesday, August 6, 2008 -- The Boston Red Sox provided pitcher Tim Wakefield with lots of run support on Wednedsay, as they beat the Kansas City Royals 8-2.
Three of those runs were provided by Jacoby Ellsbury, who hit a three-run homerun in the 7th inning.
Jacoby lost his lead-off spot in the batting order a few weeks ago. First he was put in the 9th spot, tonight he was in the 7th spot, and went 3-4.
Two good games (he hit well in yesterday's game as well - and got his first steal in a long, long time) are not really enough to say that he's back on the track to the lead-off hitter, which is where Coach Francona wants him, but it's a good sign.
Meanwhile, newcome Jason Bay had a good night at the plate as well, going 2-5.
Indeed, the entire team hit well, which helped to take the pressure off Tim Wakefield.
