Friday, August 1 2008 -- British Andy Murray began his first match in a rather mind blowing action. He displayed his confidence by driving Wawrinka behind for the opening set. But despite the knee injury Wawrinka suffered, he worked extra hard to win the second set to love against the suppressed British player. Eventually, Murray broke the 3-3 and advanced to his 5-4 victory by taking control over his services.
He claimed that even if you lost the second, it is easy to gain the next set. But if you loose the first set, you would seem to get stuck to square one. He was focused to get the third set. He might be missing some balls to hit but he too was hoping that his opponent would miss a lot of balls, which actually happened in the third set.
As much as Murray would like to achieve victory even in the doubles category, he and his brother, Jamie, lost to Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic. They scored 7-6 6-4 in the second round match.
During the ATP Tour, second seed, Rafael Nadal of Spain, finally earned his 8th place when he defeated Russian player, Igor Andreev 6-2 7-6. He went winning straight sets comfortably without encountering challenges in the court. Nadal quite improved his unbeaten streak of 26 matches. He felt that he was better than yesterday though he is cautious because the second set was similar to what happened to one of Federer’s matches.
On the other hand, former Toronto champion, Andy Roddick lost three sets as well to Marin Cilic of Croatia. Defending champion Djokovic won a game over Swedish Robin Soderling also and enjoyed his 6-4 6-4 victory.
